A client recently asked us a question: “Along the 20+ years of manufacturing custom bags, have you ever seen any truly special project?”
To be frank, in the world of Bags OEM and ODM, every project is unique because every bag is made under different brand. But if we talk about something truly unusual, there was one interesting experiment from years ago but we still remember it clearly.
About 10 years ago, one brand wanted to create a handbag collection unlike anything else in the market, not just a different color fabric, logo, or size. They wanted something people had never seen before and quietly luxurious.
That conversation brought a fascinating journey.
We began asking ourselves a question:
In today’s handbag world, genuine leather is seen as a premium material. But in ancient China, true luxury belonged to silk — a fabric once reserved for royal family and nobles. So we wondered: What if ancient luxury could meet modern luxury in a single handbag?
That was the beginning of our experiment with silk and leather.
Silk
- Super Light and flowing breathable
- A symbol of elegance and nobility for thousands of years
- Once traded along the ancient Silk Road
- Soft to the touch with a natural glow

Leather
- Heavy-duty and structured
- A key part of European craftsmanship for centuries
- Used in everything from horse saddles to luxury fashion
- Thick, supportive, and rich in texture
One material is soft and fluid, The other is strong and structured, they come from different worlds, yet both represent timeless luxury.
So we were thinking: how could we combine these two forms of luxury material and create something even greater?

The Big Question
At first, we were not even sure it was possible.
Could softness and structure truly exist together in the same bag?
Could a handbag feel light and breathable while still keeping a clean, elegant shape?
We did not want to simply sew silk onto leather.
We wanted the two materials to feel naturally connected, almost as if they were born together as one new fabric.
Then we had an unusual idea.
We thought about how spiders weave their webs, and suddenly something come to our mind: could silkworms create silk directly on leather, forming natural textures that human hands could never fully copy?
That was when the real experiment began!
The Craftsmanship Behind the Beauty
It was very exciting once this idea came to our mind, however, combining silk and leather is one of the most challenging jobs ever.
Even tiny differences in tension or thickness could change the final shape of the bag.
Here’s why:
| Material | Material weakness | Challenge To be Solved |
| Silk | Easily scratched, pulled, and frayed | Added protective treatments on surface |
| Leather | Every piece has a slightly different thickness | Carefully matched materials for consistent texture and appearance after silk nets woven |
| Silk + Leather Together | Different flexibility and stretch levels | Developed methods to keep both materials balanced and stable |

The Result: A Bag That Speaks Two Languages
However, this journey has indeed something special even for us, whom have produced all kinds of bags over two decades.
When you first see the bag, it almost looks like tiny stars are blinking across its surface. The silk catches light in a very special way. As you move, the shine changes softly and naturally. It is subtle — never loud — yet it immediately draws attention.
When you hold the bag, the leather gives it a sense of weight, structure, and elegance. But the silk layered over it makes the entire bag feel softer than it looks.
It was succeeded except efficiency was too low and large scale order of handbags from such material wasn’t really possible.
- To the eyes: bright and luminous
- To the touch: stable and solid
- Overall feeling: quiet luxury

That is exactly what we mean by “understated luxury.”
This bag does not shout for attention, it does not need to, people notice it because it feels different.
Elegant, yet structured.
Delicate, yet warm.
The balance between softness and strength, lightness and weight, tradition and modern design — that balance became the soul of the entire project.
